Cuba received on Wednesday the Excellence Award as the safest country for tourism during the XXXVIII International Trade Fair -Fitur 2018-, which takes place until January 21 in the Spanish capital.
The recognition was received by the Cuban minister of the sector, Manuel Marrero, who heads the delegation of the Island to that appointment, and the ambassador of the Greater Antilles in the Iberian nation, Gustavo Machín.
The recognition contrasts with the recommendation recently made by the United States to its citizens to "reconsider" possible trips to the Greater Antilles.
The US Department of State UU It changed its old warning system by a ladder that places all nations on four levels, where the first only involves "taking normal precautions" and the fourth receives the warning "do not travel".
Cuba, whose citizen security indicators are among the best in the region, placed it at level three, with the suggestion of "reconsidering visits" because "there are serious risks to its security and protection."
On the other hand, the XXXVIII International Tourism Fair is attended by a Cuban delegation made up of executives from the main hotel chains, as well as the associated Meliá Hotels, Iberostar and Blue Diamond, among others.
According to PL, the top business management organizations Viajes Cuba and Cubasol also participate.
On this occasion, there is the presence of Cuban Medical Services and the Caracol chain of stores.
In the context of the fair, inaugurated this Wednesday by the Spanish kings Felipe VI and Letizia, the main European and Canadian tour operators also participate.
According to the Ministry of Tourism of Cuba, Spain reached a growth of 10.5% in 2017 in its issuance of vacationers to the Greater Antilles.
